My Dear Parishioners,
It’s our Catholic tradition to have statues in church to remind us of the holy angels and saints that are with God and with us. Angels and saints have loved God since the day God created them. God even entrusts His holy angels to every person on earth, to protect us from the devils and to guide us to heaven. Saints were born and lived like us, as sinners, but because they loved God so much, others so much and their Catholic faith so much, now they are with God for eternity in complete joy, happiness and peace. Please know that every time you enter a Catholic Church, you enter God’s holy house with His Holy Angels and Saints. They are in church to adore Jesus in the tabernacle. They also join us in singing and praising at the Holy Mass. So please, do not talk in church, especially after Mass. All conversation should be in the gathering area. About a year ago, someone came to me with the interest of donating a statue for our church. The person reminded me again last July, so I started working on this project and ordered the statues. I chose the Holy Family because I want everyone to imitate the Holy Family, that is to love God and to love their own families. I firmly believe that God gave us each other so that we may love each other and live eternally with God in heaven together. Let no family be separated from each other in this life or in the next. Why the statues of Saints Peter and Paul? Wow, they were Jesus’ beloved disciples. Peter was given the divine faith in Jesus and built His Catholic Church upon Peter’s faith that was given to him by God the Father. Jesus also assigned Peter’s successor, the pope, to lead us to eternal life with the infallible teachings. Saint Paul at first was a stranger and persecutor of Jesus’ community; however, Jesus revealed Himself to Paul and he became the greatest evangelizer of the Gospel to the world. These holy statues were blessed during Holy Mass with our All Saints students on Wednesday, October 9th. After every Mass, our children pray to the saint of the day, All Saints and to Mary with the Memorare prayer. Now they can look at Jesus, Mary and Joseph when they pray for their families. Thank you to the generous donor of these statues and the donor of the security lock for the southwest door of our church. The statues beautify our church and help us to be like the angels and saints; the security lock makes it convenient for those coming to church and keeps us safer during Holy Mass. Thank you! Finally, there will be no daily Mass from October 14-25, as I will be attending two priests’ conferences. Fr. Doug Campbell will hear confessions and celebrate our Saturday 4pm Mass on October 19th. Please pray for my safe travels. Love you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Holy Mary pray for us sinners now and at the hour our death, Amen. Every Catholic knows how to pray the holy Rosary. Mary promised that anyone who would ask for her help with their good intentions, she would help them by praying for them before God. She will never turn away from anyone who asks her for her intercession. This Monday, October 7th is the feast of Our Lady of the holy Rosary, please give your devotion to our Mother, especially throughout this month of October that’s dedicated to the holy Rosary. When you pray, please remember all priests, living and deceased, in your prayer. All priests need your love and prayer. All priests are in need of God’s guidance and blessings every day to be true priests for His people, to lead them to Jesus for His merciful love, blessings and eternal life. Every priest needs to focus on his salvation and the salvation of others; therefore, he must believe in what he preaches and practice what he teaches. Do you know that all priests are human like everyone else? Sometimes we are lazy, drunken, greedy, problematic to others, etc.… Sometimes we even celebrate the Holy Sacraments with many distractions in our minds, and are even heartless sometimes. The devil tempts every priest as much or even more than he would tempt others. Please know that priests are weak people in many ways, we do fail in our words and deeds. Priests have addictions too. For the love of Jesus, I ask everyone to pray for all priests—living and deceased, especially through the intercession of Mother Mary. Priests need God’s blessings and everyone’s love and forgiveness too. On the behalf of all my brother priests, local and worldwide, living and deceased, please forgive us for the times we have failed you or someone you may know, including the sins of hate and of molestation, etc.… All priests are in need of God’s mercy and everyone’s forgiveness so that they can be loved again. Please forgive us so that we may be your priests and friends again. Have you made new friends this week yet? Let us open our hearts and hands to be friends with everyone, the old and the young, the healthy and the sick, the rich or the poor, and of course we can be friends with sinners too so that we may love them and forgive them. That was what Jesus did and He wants us to imitate Him. It is only in this way that God would forgive each one of us our sins through human weakness. Jesus, Mary & Joseph, love us and pray for us sinners, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Fall! Yes, the Fall season is here for us to enjoy and to see the work of God in nature. Please breathe in the fresh air and give thanks to God for your life, your loved ones and God’s promise of eternal life to all those who love Him and each other. October is the most beautiful time of the year for me. I enjoy the cooler weather with no bugs, flies, etc.…outside. I also love the golden colored leaves of October. Also, October is also a good time to go fishing. Fish must feed before winter, so go fishing, my friends. Catch them and enjoy them with your family. I can’t wait for the end of October/beginning of November for the deer rut will start, and I can call in the big bucks. It’s so fun and amazing to see how bucks behave during the rut. The downside is driving during the rut season, especially at dusk and dawn. Deer will come from nowhere and run into vehicles. Please be careful driving during the rut. Please join me in thanking our Knights of Columbus for their loving ministry in our parish. Year round, they provide coffee, donuts, milk and juice after Sunday Masses. I always look forward to their coffee and donut times so that I can have some too. I also love to see parishioners getting together over a cup of coffee and visiting with each other. I love to tease them too. Please join us for a cup of coffee; life is short so we should spend time with others. Two weeks ago, our Knights went an extra mile to serve us breakfast. That was so wonderful of them. I don’t think many people have come to appreciate what our Knights have done for us. Please remember that we are one church family; we are to support each other and to enjoy our friendship. These are golden opportunities for us to be a church family. On the behalf of my brother Knights, a special thank you to those who have pre-ordered BBQ to support them this weekend. It’s a win-win situation for our Knights and for you. You’ll have some good food to eat and you will also support our Knights. Thank you! Finally, please pray daily for your loved ones. Don’t forget to pray for our children at All Saints Catholic School, our children in our PSR program and those who are preparing themselves for their sacrament of Confirmation in March. Thank you to our teachers and helpers for educating and forming our children into persons of Jesus Christ. Truly appreciated and blessed to have you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Blessings and love from our Lord be with you all. Please know that I love you all. You are always in my daily prayer. I want you to know that you are loved much every day by our Lord, by our Blessed Mother and of course by all the angels and saints in heaven. Sometimes it is very difficult for us to know and to feel that we are loved by our families and friends or by our fellow parishioners. Please always trust in God and in one another. Please be aware that when we fail to know or to feel the love from others that it is not always meant to be so. It’s because we are not perfect; therefore, we don’t always know everything or feel everything like we should. Sometimes we are caught up in our unhappy situations and therefore, we fail ourselves and each other. Only when we make it to heaven will we know everything and feel everything perfectly. Let us work hard to be saintly each day with our true faith, love and life of service to one another. I want you to know how much I also love our children at All Saints Catholic school and other children in our religion programs. We are blessed with many. They are the future of our church, country and families. I really want them to know our Catholic faith by living it out each day. Soon, you will see our children being involved at our Holy Masses, the heart of our Catholic faith. Our All Saints children and confirmation students will be singing and serving in many of our liturgical ministries at Holy Mass. I am so happy and excited for our children. Today, I ask parents and grandparents to please be sure to take your children to church, of course on time too would help, so that they can live out their Catholic faith. They will not be singing and praising God if you don’t bring them. They will not be lectors and greeters if you don’t bring them. Your help and prayers are needed for the good of our children. Thank you, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Blessings from our Lord be with you all. Last week, I was blessed to be with our All Saints 3rd to 8th grade students to pray and to help them receive the sacrament of healing—confession. Our Lord loved them and forgave them all. Yes, that was a lot of students for me, one person to hear all their confessions and to pray the absolution prayer over each and every one of them. It took me two days. I am so happy for them and thank God for their Catholic faith. They are such wonderful and faith-filled children of God. Did you hear them singing at Holy Mass last Sunday? They did very well. They made my day. I will continue working at it to have more children be involved in the Holy Mass. Please pray for our children, our teachers and me too. I hope that every family has received their financial contribution statement in the mail. If you did not receive one, please contact the church office to see whether you have registered with our parish. Again, on behalf of our All Saints’ church and school families, especially our students at All Saints and the many students attending Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School, I would like to give a special thanks to the many parishioners and families who have been faithful to their pledges and their stewardship way of life. Please know that you are the ones who are doing the good deeds for these children and their future. Catholic education is not free but is from the many sacrifices of the many good-hearted people in our parish. Please know that 10 percent of your general donation will go to the diocese to help provide education to our seminarians and the many other good causes throughout the world. Here is an example, a thank you letter from the Missionary Society of Saint Theresa from Ghana: Dear Fr. Nguyen and Parishioners of All Saints: Last year we received a check for $7,335.55 from the Diocese of Wichita as proceeds from the 2018 Mission collection to the Missionary Society of St. Theresa of the Little Flower. Of this amount, 25% went toward the education of our seven seminarians, 25% for partial construction of a chapel at our formation house, and the other 50% of all proceeds went into the ministries of evangelization and education of the poor and marginalized and to provide potable drinking water in given villages. On behalf of the missionaries of St. Theresa, I would like to thank you for your generosity. Your generous gift of your parish and the Diocese of Wichita helped us feed and educate poor children in rural parts of Ghana. I am so thankful to you for your support. May God’s choicest blessings come upon you and remain with you always. Yours in the Service of the Lord, Very Rev. Paul Kala, SSTLF, Founder and Superior. Again, as true disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us continue loving, caring and sharing our time, talent and treasure for the good and salvation of each other, especially in our parish. God bless you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
How was your Labor Day weekend? Mine was good for I spent my day painting in the basement of the new house. I had to get it done so that I can move in before the winter. 80 percent of my personal stuff is still in the garage/office for over a year. Lately some unexpected events have kept me from working in the house such as fixing the church’s broken sewage line, paving the road and the sidewalks, leaking roofs, the many air conditioner problems, the many funerals, etc... On Labor Day, I did have a great dinner. I hope that everyone enjoyed your Labor Day celebration with your family and friends. Did you remember to be humble before God and others? No matter who we are, being humble is not easy. It takes a lot of patience and true love. Please keep trying, and work at it for God is always ready to help you. The key is to stay calm and pray in your heart for God’s strength and His help. PSR & Confirmation: Our classes are starting up for our children to continue growing in their Catholic faith. Parents, your children truly need your help and guidance for them to grow in their Catholic faith. Your children need your daily love, your daily reminder to them to be nice to one another as well as saying their daily prayers. Of course, they need you to practice your Catholic faith and to take your family to church. Remember, a family that prays together stays together in this life and forever in heaven. I don’t think I would know God, love God and serve God today as a priest if my parents had not made us pray together every night as a family. Of course, we have never ever skipped a Holy Mass. The only time that I ever skipped Mass was when we were escaping in the Pacific Ocean by boat. I was 12 years old then. Please don’t take Holy Mass for granted. We need God in our lives and in our families. Holy Mass is the Holy Eucharist, which is Jesus, who is God with us today. Family Financial Statement: On behalf of our All Saints students and the many students attending Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High school, thanks to the many parishioners and families who have been faithful to their pledges and their stewardship way of life. Please know that you are the ones who are doing the good deeds for these children and their future. Catholic education is not free but is from the many sacrifices of the many good-hearted people in our parish. Soon, every family will receive an up-to-date 2019 financial contribution statement from the parish. Please don’t fail our children and your parish. We need your love and support. Thank you for being faithful to God, to our parish and to our children. In Jesus’s name, Fr. Hien Happy Labor Day Everyone,
God bless America. God’s blessings be with you all. We give thanks to God for the work of our human hands that have served God and benefited our country and everyone living in it. Please know that everything you do, at home as well as at your workplace, benefits you, your family and everyone else locally and worldwide. Let us always put our God-given strength, skills and talents to good use as long as we live. Let no one allow his/her laziness to get the best of them, but rather always stay busy and active. This weekend let us celebrate the fruits of our hard work and labor with joy and thanksgiving to God and to one another. God bless America, our homeland! September is here and every student is back to school. Let us keep them near to our hearts and prayers every day. Our children will be beautiful before God and others when they learn to receive and to live each day with God’s blessings and grace. Although we cannot change them, we can always love them and pray for them and support them with Catholic education and formation for their hearts, minds and souls. God bless our children and all of God’s children, especially the unborn so that they too will have the right to be born and to be with their families and friends. Construction: Unfortunately, the church’s sewage line collapsed about 15 feet underground, west of the church. We had sewage backed up in the rest rooms and in the air handling room. We had to cut across the concrete road and dig down and replace all the old original pipe with new PVC pipe. This problem has been around for a long time for we often had to snake the sewage line, thinking that it was tree roots but that was not the case. The clay sewage pipes collapsed. Thankfully we got it fixed in one day. This should last for many years. We have to wait for the ground to settle before we can pour new concrete in the driveway. Thank you everyone for your patience and your faithful stewardship that helped pay for a must-fix problem. No one can live without food nor can we live without a bathroom. Happy Labor Day Everyone. God bless America and all those who live in it, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
First, blessings from our Lord with heavenly prayers from our Blessed Mother Mary be with you all. If you are reading this message before Friday, a reminder that we are obligated to attend the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Holy Day Masses are Wednesday, August 14th at 6:30pm and Thursday at 12 noon & 6:30pm. Please bring your entire family to church to be loved by our Mother Mary and to be blessed by our Lord Jesus. I am looking forward to being with you again. Second, please join me in welcoming back our staff, teachers and students, especially the many new ones, for the new school year. I am sure that they are excited to be back to school to be with their friends and to continue learning. I was so surprised to see how much some of them have physically grown just this summer. We are blessed to have many new students this year. Welcome back to school, God’s little children. We love you all. Third, in this week’s bulletin is the parish financial statements for everyone to view. We were blessed with many wonderful and faithful stewards in our parishioners. They are the ones making the difference in our church and school, for the spiritual and educational benefits of others. Thank you, thank you! Please do nothing less than what you have done in the past for the love of God and the education and formation of our children. You can see that we need a lot of money to pay for our high school students and for the operation of our All Saints Catholic school. We love our children and we are committed to providing them with the best education and formation of their hearts, minds and souls. They are the future of our Catholic Church, our families and the USA. They are the future wonderful teachers, doctors, nurses, Catholic parents, and many other professions, including evangelizers of the Gospel like myself. Let us support them with our love, prayers and good deeds and with our time, talent and treasure. Holy Mary, pray for us all--Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
How are you doing? Are you ready for your children and grandchildren to be back in school? I am ready for them all. I can’t wait to meet the many new faces at our Catholic school. Thank you for sending your children to us. We promise to take good care of them and to help them grow in their Catholic faith as well as educate them to be the best person and student they can be. However, please know that we cannot do it all without God and you. Your daily prayer, love and constant support of your time, talent and treasure are needed. Please know that God is with us; therefore, please always trust in God, including with your financial support for our children’s Catholic education at All Saints and Kapaun Mt Carmel High School. Let us put God first and give of our time and life for the good of each other. Everyone is invited, including school families and all parishioners, to our Back to School Dinner this Sunday, August 11th at 5:00 p.m. in the Fischer Center. The Parish will provide steak and chicken fajitas, chips and salsa. You can bring side dishes and desserts if you like. Here is another great opportunity for us to be with each other, to meet our teachers and our excited students, and to feel good about our faith and our faithful stewardship to God and to our children. Please join us for we are a church family. We need you all to be with us for this special event. Did you miss me at Mass last weekend? My Marian Days pilgrimage last weekend was great. I really enjoyed it. I am glad that I took an extra day to go early to visit my brother priests in Pittsburg, KS and enjoy my time in Carthage with so many Catholics. Bishop Kemme was there too and I had lunch and dinner with him. The not so pleasant part of the pilgrimage was the weather on Saturday afternoon during the procession. God gave everyone a nice shower from heaven. The rain did not stop anyone from singing and praising God during the procession. That was so amazing. True faith prevails! I am glad to be back home and sleeping in my own bed with no one snoring. There were five other priests in my room, and they snored like a mower. I am sure I snored too, due to old age??? Holy Mass of Obligation: Thursday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Everyone is obligated to attend Holy Mass. Mass times are Wednesday, August 14th at 6:30pm, and Thursday at 12 noon & 6:30pm (please notice that there is no 8am Mass). I am hoping that the 6:30pm Mass will be a better time for more people than the 8am Mass on a weekday. Love you all, Fr. Hien |
