My Dear Parishioners,
First, please sign up to have your family picture taken on October 6th-7th—in the school, or November 1st-2nd—in the K of C hall, and finally 24th-25th—in the school. Your family picture will be ready for you and your family before Christmas. The 8x10 professional picture is free to you and to any family, including families that don't belong to our church or school. Please encourage your loved ones and neighbors to take this opportunity for a free family picture. No one has to buy any picture if he/she wishes not to. Second, Saturday, October 7th is our All Saints Marian Day. Everyone is welcome to join us and our school for lots of free fun activities beginning at 3pm Friday and all day Saturday. Please note that the 4pm Mass on this Saturday will be at 3pm, followed by the Eucharistic procession with the statue of Mary. Bishop Kemme will be the celebrant for Mass and the procession. There will be many guest priests and religious sisters from out of state who will join us too. We will provide free dinner to everyone outdoors with a music concert. Finally, all the heating and air units have been delivered to the school. All the rooftop units are installed, and the workers are connecting the electrical and gas lines. The roofers are doing their job also. The excavator was here excavating the northeast corner of the gym for the new electrical line. This means that the school will have its own power line instead of using the current power line from the church. When the weather is good, the workers work outside and when it’s not then they will be working inside to install other heating units for the school cafeteria, the gym, the kitchen by the gym, and the nearby restroom and hallways. Also, the roofers have replaced the east section of the school roof and it’s beautiful. Now, they are working at the north hall way and the St. Agnes room. Let us ask God’s blessings upon all those who have loved us and served us with their time, talents and treasures, including our teachers, staff, volunteers and hvac people and roofers. Jesus loves us all, and I love you too, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Are you ready for October? Yes, it’s near and we will have many events going on this month. First, please sign up to have your family picture taken on October 6th-7th, or one of these dates on November 1st-2nd, and finally 24th-25th. Your family picture will be ready for you and your family before Christmas. The 8x10 professional picture is free to you and to any family, including families that don't belong to our church or school. The pictorial company is inviting anyone to take their photos for the good of their family. At All Saints, we want to love and welcome everyone to our church and school so that we can grow together in faith and in love of God and neighbors. So, yes, we welcome you all. The last time we had our pictorial directory done was in 2018, five years ago. It’s time for us to do our duty by having family pictures taken for the good of our families and also for the good of our church. Please know that you do not have to buy additional pictures, unless you want to. Second, we are only two weeks away from the All Saints Marian Day on Saturday, October 7th. Everyone is welcome to join us and our school for lots of fun activities beginning 3pm Friday and all day Saturday. Please notice that the 4pm Mass on that Saturday is going to be at 3pm, followed by the Eucharistic procession with the statue of Mary. Bishop Kemme will be the celebrant for Mass and the procession. We will provide free dinner to everyone outdoors. Special thanks to our Knights for cooking the food and the Altar Society for serving desserts and drinks. Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of your religion, race or language. Please pray for All Saints so that we will be blessed with many generous hands and hearts to help us celebrate our faith and to share God’s blessings with others, especially the non-Catholics that need hope and faith in them and their families. We all will be saints in heaven if today we hear His voice and share His love with others. We live to lead all people to Jesus. Jesus loves us all, and I love you too, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners And Blessings To You All,
It looks like the super hot summer is behind us and the nice, cool weather is starting because the fall season will start on Saturday, September 23. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and I think it would be for many of you as well. First, the nice and cool weather is much more pleasant than over 100 degree summer days or the below zero degree winter. Second, the cool weather leads everything outside toward the winter, the changing colors of the leaves in the trees. Fall is beautiful not only here in Kansas but especially up in the northern states, in the forests and mountains. I highly recommend to those who have time to travel north, northeast and northwest to see the wonders of God’s creation and beauty. One of my bucket lists is to travel in the fall to these beautiful states to see and to enjoy God’s mighty work in His creation. I am hoping that I can do this sometime in the near future, (not this year yet due to the hvac and roofing projects we are installing). Third, the fall is also my hunting season when I can enjoy what Kansas has to offer in its fields of corn, soybeans, tall grasses and especially in the birds of the sky, but not the coyotes, raccoons, rats and especially snakes. Did you know that Kansas harvests about 100,000 deer every year? Yes, there are a lot of people who like to hunt and to share their game meat with others. Most of the time, those who are hunters, fishers, gardeners and outdoor persons are those who connect well with other people and God. They have learned to be patient and above all, to respect Mother Nature. Therefore, they normally do the same in their daily lives at home, work and even at church. So, please learn to be an outdoor person, it does a lot of good to your body, mind and soul. In addition, it’s the best method to de-stress and to have a good night’s sleep, which is very important for every person. I am thankful to God for my childhood that made me a handyman, a gardener and a fisherman, so that I can be God’s fisher of men today. Finally, we are three weeks away from the All Saints Marian Day on Saturday, October 7th. Please notice that the 4pm Mass on that day is going to be at 3pm, followed by the Eucharistic procession with the statue of Mary. Bishop Kemme will be the celebrant for Mass and the procession. We will provide free dinner to everyone outdoors, and there will be lots of fun all day and in the evening. Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of your religion, race or language. God bless us all and I love you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Grandparents Day to all grandparents! Grandparents are known for their great faith and unconditional love for their families. All grandparents will never forget the love and joy they had with their kids and grandkids/great grandkids, including the good meals they had together. They are always willing to support the lives of their children and grandchildren. They love to babysit their grandkids and be with them, including their sports. Many grandparents are the ones to support and put their grandkids in Catholic education. They are the ones who contacted the church for the sacraments for their grandkids. Of course, they are the ones who pray daily for their kids and grandkids as well as taking their grandkids to church when their parents fail to live out their Catholic faith. They are also world travelers and share many gifts and treasures with their loved ones. Personally, my grandparents (all deceased now) are to me the best shining example of people living their Catholic faith. I am sure and certain that without their great love and intercession for me, I would not have made it to the priesthood. My nine years in the seminaries was very difficult not only because of learning a new language but also because of adapting to a new culture as well as to the life of the seminaries. Throughout my life, I have always felt the love and prayers from my grandparents for they were all kind, loving and generous to me when I was a young child. Due to communism, I became separated from them since I was about 11 years old, by then two of them had already died. They all meant a lot to me. So, please love your grandparents if they are still with you. Don’t take them for granted. They will give you everything they have such as lots of love, prayers, support and financial help. All you have to do is be a good person in faith and in love towards your family. They don’t wish for you to be rich but only to be good to your family. May God bless our families, especially our elderly grandparents. God is good to us through them at all times. Thank you for being our grandparents today and eternally. Love you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners, Blessings from our Lord Jesus be with you all. We are blessed to have so many good hearted people among us, especially Catholics who love their Catholic faith here at All Saints Catholic church and school. Our goal here at All Saints church is to help everyone love God and one another, and together, we will inherit the eternal life of heaven with all the saints. Let us open the doors of church and school, and above all, the doors of our hearts to welcome everyone coming to All Saints - the old and the young, the healthy and the sick, the born and the unborn - we love them all. We are here to pray and to worship, to teach and to learn, to love and to serve one another.
Finally, please put on your calendar that our All Saints Marian Day this year will be Saturday, October 7th at 3pm with Holy Mass by Bishop Kemme, followed by the outdoor Eucharistic and Marian procession and meals for everyone. This is a special event for our church and school to bring God’s children together from many languages, cultures and races. All Saints Catholic school PTO will provide fun activities for all kids outdoors along with many other vendors and organizations. Here is the event schedule: October 6th at 3pm, indoor food sale and outdoor vendors and music; 7pm will be the lions/dragons dance performance, followed by the children's lenten celebration and music (mid-autumn festival). Saturday 9am there will be more outdoor vendors and music/karaoke until 2pm with confessions in church, followed by 3pm Mass, etc. All the costs related to this special event will be paid for by the Vietnamese food sales. Please bring your families, friends and neighbors to join us for a minute, an hour, a day or even the whole weekend. We would love to share our joy, love and happiness with everyone. God is good to us all, let us be good to one another, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
The summer is over and our children are back to school. They are starting to learn all that they can throughout this school year as they are growing in bodies, minds and spirit. Of all that is important in life, learning to love God and one another is the most important lesson we want to teach these children. The children are eager to learn, especially from our professional teachers and from their parents, grandparents, family members and friends, especially their examples of faith. Please do everything you can to attend Holy Mass and to bring your children closer to God. (Thank you to all those who attended the Holy Day of Obligation on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15th. Any Catholic who failed to attend Holy Mass on the Holy Day of obligation is to confess before he/she can receive Holy Communion again). Always pray with them before your meals as well as before bedtime. Personally, I always enjoy seeing everyone in church. I also love to celebrate Holy Mass with our children. They are full of life, energy and honesty. Please continue praying for our students, teachers, staff and especially the HVAC workers and electricians. Everyone is here to serve our Lord by taking care of one another. Any child who is attending a Catholic school like here at All Saints Catholic school does not have to take any other religion classes because lessons are given to them everyday. They also live out their Catholic faith by attending their all school Mass on Tuesday and Thursday at 8am. Everyone is invited to join us for Holy Mass. Lastly, any child who does not attend a Catholic school needs to attend PSR (parish school of religion) program, to learn their religion lessons. In order for us to look for volunteers to teach in the PSR program, we need to know how many kids are interested in this program. If a child is not attending a Catholic school and is interested in our PSR program, please contact the church office by September 3rd. It’s the responsibility of the parents that their kids are learning their Catholic faith as well as living it daily. God bless us all, Fr. Hien Please join me in welcoming back our children for their new school year here at All Saints this Wednesday, August 16th. This new school year will be very special to all of us because of the new HVAC system being installed for our school. This new system will last us for many years to come. However, it is a great sacrifice for our church family to provide this nice system for our children, with one heating and air conditioning unit per classroom. It costs around $700 thousand for this project, so we all need to put our hands and hearts together to help pay for it. Please, parents, grandparents, relatives of our children, benefactors of our church and school, alumni of All Saints, and all good-hearted people, please help us with your contribution so that we can pay for this very important project for the good of so many children today and many years to come. Every dollar is needed and appreciated. Thank you to so many parishioners for your tithe and generosity to our church and school, and for your love, prayers, and financial support.
Holy Day of Obligation—all Catholics are obligated to attend Holy Mass this Tuesday, August 15 th at our church or at another Catholic church. Holy Masses are 12 noon and 5pm in English, and 6:30pm in Vietnamese. Mother Mary was taken body and soul to heaven because she loved God so much, she trusted in God, and she served God every moment of her life on earth; therefore, God crowned her as our spiritual Mother, to always pray for us sinners until we all are in heaven with her and our Lord Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners, as you are reading this bulletin, I am in Carthage, Missouri with Bishop Kemme for our annual pilgrimage to honor the Blessed Mother Mary and to pray for the salvation of souls. There will be thousands of Catholics, as many as 80 thousand, mostly Vietnamese from all over the world for this special event. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I will be praying daily for you all at two Masses per day, beside other religious events such as adoration and the procession. As a priest, my main reason for attending this important event is to help many people through the sacraments, especially with the sacrament of the sick and of penance. I usually hear about 4 hours of confessions a day. If you ever wonder what this event is like, I highly recommend that you and your family attend, you will not regret it and it will be an eye opener to many. You will either set up your own tents or stay in a hotel, but you would have to book it about a year in advance. There will be so many cultural events with food and skills and talents, performances as well as spiritual talks, all day and night. If you know me well by now, you should know that no matter where I am, my heart will always be with the people of All Saints. Again, thank you to my brother priests for helping my parishioners with their priestly ministry. Please help me in thanking them before God and also personally. Thank you and thank you to so many parishioners for your love, prayers, and financial support to our church’s family. Enjoy your last few weeks of summer. Thank you and I love you all, Fr. Hien
My Dear Parishioners,
Blessings from our Lord be with you all. I want to thank everyone for your faithfulness to God by attending Holy Masses, especially here at All Saints. Yes, the weather has been super-hot, and we thank God for the new air conditioner system in our church. Can you imagine no cooling in church? If it had not been for the new HVAC system donated by a good-hearted family to our church, we all would be suffering greatly due to the extreme summer heat. Please know that it's cooler around the walls of the church than the center area of the church because the air vents are located along the walls; therefore, if it’s too cold for you, please move closer to the altar. Yes, we are super blessed with our beautiful church that’s always full of faithful Catholics. Please know that I always enjoy celebrating Holy Mass in our church and with you because of your full participation throughout the Mass. You are very attentive in listening to the Word of God as well as always praying from your hearts. Thank you! The guest priests who celebrated Holy Masses in our church also love our church and the people of All Saints. Remember, parents, you need to register your kids for the new school year. Please be sure to pay all your last year's school dues, whether it was latchkey, lunch or registration fees. All fees must be paid for last school year, 2022-23. The above school fees are not part of your stewardship tithing. Of course, you are also required to pledge and tithe to All Saints based on your family’s income, and to keep up with your tithe, unless you choose to pay tuition of $5,000 per child. Please know that you are expected to be faithful stewards with your time, talent and treasure. Catholic education is a privilege for those who support it by attending Holy Mass and contributing their talents and finances. This school year, it will cost the parish an additional $620-$723 thousand dollars for the new heating and air conditioning system for the entire school. I am glad to let you know that the HVAC project is going well, and each classroom is installed with an HVAC unit for cooling and heating. Please parents, grandparents, relatives of our children, benefactors of our church and school, alumni of All Saints, and all good-hearted people, please help us with your contribution so that we can pay for this very important project for the good of so many children today and many years to come. Every dollar is needed and appreciated. Thank you to so many parishioners for your tithe and generosity to our church and school, and your love, prayers, and financial support, especially our Knights of Columbus with $12,500 given to our school. Thank you and I love you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners, are you ready to send your kids and grandkids back to school? Yes, it’s coming in a few weeks. So, parents, if you haven't done so, please register your kids for the new school year. Please be sure to pay all your last year's school dues, whether it was latchkey, lunch or registration fees. It costs the parish $5,000 to educate one child at All Saints and $8,000 for high school every year. Catholic education is not free. It’s a privilege for those who support it by attending Holy Mass and contributing their talents and finances.
This school year, it will cost the parish an additional $620-$723 thousand dollars for the new heating and air conditioning system for the entire school. The work was started in June, and it might take up to one year to fully complete due to the new Westar electrical service for the school building. There will be 27 HVAC units, one per classroom so that they will be heated for the upcoming winter for our kids and teachers. Please know that we love our students, teachers and staff. They mean everything to us here at All Saints and we are doing all that we can to keep them safe, healthy and warm in the winter. Please parents, grandparents, relatives of our children, benefactors of our church and school, alumni of All Saints, and all good-hearted people, please help us with your finances so that we can pay for this very important project for the good of so many children today and many years to come.
