My Beloved Parishioners,
I would like to invite you to visit our new chapel and to join me in the blessing of it and the new large image of the Last Supper in our gathering area at 5:30pm on Tuesday, March 5th, followed by Holy Mass and adoration hours. Our chapel is beautiful because of the many holy images, Stations of the Cross, and the relics of saints on the altar. This chapel is a place of worship for Holy Masses on Tuesdays & Thursdays to save energy/wear & tear on the big church. It’s also a place of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament (adoration), and prayers to the Holy Family, the angels and saints. Everyone is invited to be with Jesus and to be blessed by God. Also, all lights in the chapel are LED. The outside, the hall way and the restrooms lights are operated by sensors (automatically turn on when someone is around). If you need the new code for the chapel, please call the office. Please be true Catholics with your worship & adoration to our Lord, by praying to Mother Mary and by imitating all saints and angels. 40 Days of Lent: Starts Wednesday, March 6th with Holy Masses at 8am, 12noon and 6:30pm. Everyone is invited to attend Holy Mass and to receive ashes. On Ash Wednesday, please eat only one full meal and two lesser meals, without meat. Fridays during Lent, no meat please. Put many reminder notes at home/work place to help you remember. Stations of the Cross on Fridays in Church: Every Friday at 2:30pm, to be led by our All Saints students when school is in session. On March 8thand 22nd, at 5pm, to be led by our Knights of Columbus and on March 15th by the Altar Society. Also, every Friday during Lent at 5:30pm in Vietnamese, to be led by the Vietnamese prayer group. Everyone is invited to join us at the above times but if you can’t, please make every effort to pray the Stations of Cross privately with your family in church or at home or at work. God knows your love for Him, Fr. Hien Building Fund: From everyone in our church family, we want to thank many individuals and families, parishioners and non-parishioners, who have contributed generously to our building fund. Up to date, we are blessed with $158,587. Every registered parishioner/family was asked for a suggested amount and if you have not contributed yet, please know that we are still waiting for your gift to our parish so that we can reach our goal of $170,000. We are grateful to you and the following donors: Danh & Nhu Nguyen, Jason & Kristen Phillips, Becky Hotze, Khoa Bui, Glen & Benita Cox, Shanda Knipp-Barnes, Floyd Fletcher & Theresa Pitzer, Evelyn Tajchman, Tommy & Alisha Chang, Lucky Market, Annie Trinh, Virginia Simmons, Bill & Terrisa Compton & many more. My Dear Parishioners,
Blessings from our Lord be with you. I would like to invite everyone to view our new adoration chapel after this weekend’s Masses. The chapel is located near the restroom area. This chapel will be blessed at the 5:30pm Mass on Tuesday, March 5th, followed by adoration hours. This chapel has its own outside door with an entry code to enter the chapel. The code will be given to adorers on the weekend of March 2nd. By the entry door is a new parking lot for adorers. At night, the outside light will light up the parking lot area and a special motion sensor light will turn on when someone is near, or a vehicle is pulling up. This chapel is like a mini-church because of the many religious images, Stations of the Cross, and the holy relics of many saints. This chapel is a place of worship to our Lord (at Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm Mass), a place of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament (adoration), and prayers to the Holy Family, the angels and saints. I hope everyone will enjoy our beautiful chapel and be true Catholics, Fr. Hien Extra-Ordinary Eucharistic Minister and Lector Training: I would like to invite our current lectors and Eucharistic ministers and any adult who is a practicing Catholic who has been confirmed, including high school and collage-aged parishioners, to attend my training on Saturday, March 9th at 10 am in our church. Please know that these ministries are so important and special that everyone must be trained. Eucharistic Ministers, once you’re trained, your names will be sent to our bishop for approval and you will be certified for the next five years. Lectors, you will have the honor of proclaiming the word of God at Holy Mass. I am looking forward to training you and helping you to love and to serve our Lord in His Holy Church. I promise you that I will get everyone trained within one hour, unless you have too many questions. For more details, please contact Sandy or Fr. My Dear Parishioners,
Today, Tuesday, February 5th is the Lunar New Year “Chinese New Year.” Today many countries in southeast Asia such as China, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, etc.…are celebrating the Lunar New Year. Here in our parish, we have many Vietnamese like me who are celebrating the New Year, too. The best part of the Lunar New Year is receiving the lucky money - “red envelope with money inside” - from one another and the new year celebration that lasts about two weeks. This year, 2019, is the Year of the Pig according to the Chinese zodiac. Happy New Year to those who are celebrating! Sympathies & Prayers: First, to the family of Pedro Rodriguez. Pedro passed away Sunday, January 20. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Air Force. We celebrated his funeral Mass on Friday, January 25 in our church. Second, our love and prayers to the family of Judson Spicer. Judson was 97 years old and passed away Friday, January 18. He also served our country in the Navy for years. We celebrated his funeral Mass last Friday, February 1st in our church. Lastly, to the family of LeRoy Clerico. LeRoy was born on November 7, 1914, and passed away at the age of 104. I also celebrated his life with his family and friends on Monday, February 4th, and put him to eternal rest. May God bless Pedro, Judson, LeRoy and all our beloved ones with eternal life with God and all the angels and saints. Please be safe and don’t die on me for I had three funerals and attended one in three weeks—Fr. Hien Coming Up: Please make plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 14th. May your love for your spouse and for each other be true, strong and never endling. Thank You: On behalf of our All Saints students and our high school students who are attending our Catholic high schools - THANKS everyone for your love for them and for supporting them with your stewardship to our parish. Yes, your stewardship, especially your treasure, has helped provide Catholic education and formation to our children and youth. They will be forever grateful to you all. Here is an example from one of our students: “Dear Father Hien and fellow Parishioners, thank you for supporting me on my journey at Kapaun. I wish there was a better way for me to thank you. Thank you so much for allowing me the experience of going to a Catholic school. I appreciate you all and Father Hien. Again, thank you for it all….” To let you know what your stewardship means to our children, I invite you to read their personal appreciation messages that were sent to me on a big poster. It’ll be available in the gathering area of our church for everyone to view. Finally, thank you to our All Saints children and teachers for all the fun you shared with me during your Catholic school week. I played volleyball with you and enjoyed you all immensely. You are amazing and fun to be around. Love you all, Fr. Hien Dear All Saints Church Family,
In this special week of the March for Life and the celebration of the Catholic Schools week, let us give thanks to God for our lives and each other, especially our parents who gave us birth and their unconditional love. God made us so that we may love each other as He loves us. Each of us and every person, born and not yet born, are precious and sacred to God, and it should be too for all of us. Let us love each other for we are God’s most precious gift to each other. Please pray also for our All Saint students this week. My Dear Parishioners,
How are you doing in this new year? I hope 2019 has been good to you. I am thankful to God for my life, my family, friends and parishioners. I pray that everyone will be blessed by God with His peace, love, goodness and the everlasting life of heaven. This week let us keep our beloved parishioners - Abby Aguilar, Hannah Phillips, Rachel and Quang Le, Janet Duke and Sandy Nettleton - along with hundreds of thousands of youth who are in Washington DC for March for Life. May our prayers and their efforts end abortion, so everyone will have the right to life. God made everyone so that we may love Him by loving one another, regardless of how we think/feel about them or how we feel about life. Anyone who loves will be saved and anyone who does not love will be condemned. All Saints is a diverse church family with parishioners from many traditions and cultures. I was born and raised in the Vietnamese culture and language. Due to the Vietnam War, my family and I had to escape in a tiny boat in the Pacific Ocean for freedom. We made it to an island in Malaysia where we were rescued and fed by the Malaysian fishermen; we then lived in many refugee camps of Malaysia and in the Philippines; finally, we were accepted and welcomed to the USA to live for life. America has been our new homeland for the last 32 years and we love it here. I am thankful to God and to all those who have shared their lives, food, country, cultures and traditions with me. America is beautiful because we are like the rainbow in the sky, full of different colors that symbolize hope and life to all. Below is a message in Vietnamese inviting everyone to a special Vietnamese Mass on Tuesday, February 5th at 5:30pm in our church. Tet/Vietnamese New Year is the most important day of the year for the Vietnamese people. Everyone is invited to the Holy Mass followed by a potluck dinner afterwards in the Fischer Center. Come worship with us and celebrate with us! Hiển My Dear Parishioners,
Please join me in extending our love, prayer and sympathy to the family of Theona Burgardt. Theona recently passed to eternal life at the age of 87. Her husband James passed away last April. May she and our deceased parishioners rest in heavenly peace with God, all the angels and saints. Throughout this new year, please give thanks to God for one another, especially our children. They are God’s gift to us. We are providing a Catholic education to them so that they may love Jesus with all their hearts, minds and souls. My Dear Parishioners,
Happy the Epiphany of the Lord! Our loving God has revealed Himself to us in the person of Jesus to bring us His heavenly peace, love, joy, happiness and everlasting life. Let us love God every moment of our life. May we live to share His heavenly love with one another, especially with those who have not believed Jesus in the Holy Sacraments. In this new year of 2019, please make every effort to receive the Holy Sacraments, especially the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. Jesus so loves us that He is always ready to bless us and to lift us up to the joyful and happy life. Please make your New Year resolution to pray daily and to attend Holy Mass more often, especially daily Mass or to visit Jesus in adoration. The more we love God, the closer we are to Him. Next weekend, we will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. Those who were baptized in Christ have become one with Him; we are His holy temples; may we fulfill our baptismal promises by rejecting sin and death and always loving God and one another. The Christmas season will end after the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord. Beginning Monday, January 14th, liturgically we will begin the First Week in Ordinary Time. Finally, I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, Christmas cards, gifts and your best wishes. Many of you also shared your cards and goodies with our parish staff. Thank you! We greatly appreciated and enjoyed it all. Thanks, Fr. Please know that each day of your life is a gift from God so that you may love God, trust in Him, worship Him, serve Him and bring His love and joy to others. Please join me for the special Holy Mass of Obligation to ask our Blessed Mother Mary, the Mother of God – Jesus - to pray for us and our family and friends. Our Masses are Monday, December 31st at 6:30pm and Tuesday, January 1st at 8am and 9:30am. On this New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1st at 10am, at the Cathedral, let us join our Bishop Carl Kemme as he consecrates our diocese of Wichita to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary prays for us, our diocese and all people throughout the world to love our Lord Jesus by loving one another as ourselves. Here is a special prayer Bishop has asked us to pray: Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of all, we consecrate the Catholic Diocese of Wichita all our parishes, schools, religious institutes, chapels, hospitals, clinics, all our ministries, all our families and each and every person to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary. Please accept our consecration, Dearest Mother, and use us as you wish to accomplish your designs upon the world. O sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and Queen of the world, rule over us together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of paganism, relativism, heresy and apostasy. Kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, a deeper love for Christ your Son in the Eucharist and fidelity to all the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church We come with confidence to you, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has in flamed your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes your shrine and through us make the Heart of Jesus together with you rule triumphant in every heart and home.
