My Dear Parishioners of All Saints,
Advent is near and Christmas is coming. First, I would like to thank God for each one of you and your loved ones. Please know that I love you all and I always thank God for you, my parishioners, especially at Holy Masses, to remember you and to pray for you and all those from our parish who have gone to eternal life. I am blessed to be here with you, and I hope that it's the same to you. We will always need each other for us to have eternal life. Second, it’s time again for you to complete the stewardship forms. Please do your best to support our church and school, especially with your finances. Please know that the parish tithes 17.5 percent of your tithe to the diocese for other necessary ministries in the diocese and in the world. If you tithe faithfully, you are fulfilling your obligation before God. Please tithe based on your whole family income, 10 percent is suggested. Please use direct deposit (only once a month) if you have not done so to the parish saves from buying envelopes and shipping and handling. Today, the parish can really need your extra financial help because of the three major projects that must be done for our school. We are replacing the old underground steam line, and the cooling water line of the school. The steam line alone costs $33,500 and the cooling water line is yet to know because we don't know the exact amount of work to be done underground. Both lines are broken, and they must be replaced if we want heat or ac in the school buildings. Thankfully our church building no longer requires these old systems for cooling and heating. Another project that needs to be done is part of the school's roof. They are over 30 years old, and we have been patching them to buy time. As you all know, our school building is big and to fix the area that is most in need of attendance is about $30,000 for the materials. Today, on the behalf our church’s family, including our students, I’m asking each family to tithe based on your whole family income whether it comes from your pay checks or from other benefits such as retirement, etc.… and to give an extra $1,000-$3,000 to the school so that we can pay for the projects that must be done. If the suggested amount is not feasible, please give what you can, every dollar helps, our school children and I will be so grateful to your family. If you can do more, it would be so nice for sadly, there will always be people asking from the church and will never give/support the church. Yes, we have done so many church’s services, including funerals for many people who claimed to be members of the parish but they either moved away or did not give financially. What really saddened us was that even their memorials were not given to our church or school. We are not here to point fingers or to change anyone but to help each other to live out our Catholic faith. Please be good Catholics with your time, talents, and invest your treasures with God in our parish and you will be so happy that you did when you do your accounting with Him. God has given us everything just to see whether we’ll be His good and faithful stewards or not. Finally, happy Advent and Merry Christmas to you all and please know that I always look forward to being with you to worship with you and to be loved by you. May we live today sharing God’s love with one another through our joy, happiness, peace and with our stewardship way of life at All Saints. Love you all, Fr. Hien PS. Please return the attached envelope with your donation and pledge form. Thank you! My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. We all have been blessed by God to live in America with so many blessings, including the freedom to love and worship God. On Thanksgiving Day, please bring your family to church and give your thanks and praises to God. Throughout the day and the weekend, there will be many opportunities for everyone to be with their families and friends to celebrate with great food, friendship, and love. Please be super careful when you are traveling. Don’t be in a hurry or careless when you drive. A small mistake can cost your life, or the lives of your loved ones or so many other innocent people. You can't be too careful when driving and traveling. Please do me a favor by seeing Jesus in each other, so that you may love them the way they are and help them when they are not Christ-like to you or others. As you can see, we are blessed to have our children serving at Holy Masses again. Please help me in thanking and appreciating them for their ministry. Parents, please be sure to read the bulletin for your children's schedule. You are responsible to bring them to church to serve or to ask among their friends for replacement. Always try to treat your kids or grandkids when they do something beautiful like serving at Holy Mass. Happy Thanksgiving, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
November 11th is Veterans’ Day; we will be honoring our military veterans for their service to our country. We are blessed with so many good-hearted men and women of our country who have served and given their lives for our freedom and peace today and the years to come. We are grateful to them and their sacrifices and the many sacrifices their families have given. They were good to us, let us be good to them with our love and prayers for them at Holy Masses. May each one of them, especially those who are disabled of any kind, live to know that their sacrifices were appreciated. May they live in peace and in love with everyone, especially among their families and friends. In November, we pray for the salvation of all souls, especially at Holy Mass. Please make every effort to attend Holy Mass and to pray for your deceased loved ones and friends. Trust in God and He will set us free from sins and eternal death, Fr. Hien HOMEBOUND: Holy Communion can be brought from All Saints to a devoted Catholic who is homebound or in a nursing home. Please contact the church office if you need this special ministry. Due to Covid and the many deadly viruses around, and for the safety of the homebound persons and the Eucharistic ministers, Holy Communion is not brought to anyone who is sick. All homebound ministers are required to wear masks and to use hand sanitizer before and after each visit. Carelessness can kill many. Let us help each other to live a long life with family and friends. BISHOP CARL KEMME TO CELEBRATE ANNUAL VIETNAMESE MARTYRS MEMORIAL. Again, happy All Saints’ Feast Day and thank you for your love and faith in God. It was so good to see so many of us for All Saints’ Feast Day. I know that God is important to you and your family. Please always trust in God and always put God first every day no matter what. Only God can free us from our sins and eternal death. We all were given life by God and we all must love God today so that we all may be with God forever in heaven like all the holy angels and saints. On the other hand, all the fallen angels will be forever away from God and the holy angels and saints, and it will be the same for those of us who today do not love God. Yes, all the saints in heaven today were born sinners like us but they lived on earth for their Catholic faith, for God and for the salvation of others. Now they are with God, the holy angels and saints eternally. Throughout this month of November, we will pray for all souls, all those who have died and have not made it to eternal life. Many of the poor souls in Purgatory are our deceased families and friends. We will pray for them and all souls at every Mass; therefore, our intentions will be for all souls, and your Mass stipends will benefit our parish ‘Building Fund.” Please take an envelope and write all the deceased names of your family and friends so that they will be prayed for at every Mass in November (these names will be placed in front of the altar all month). We love them and we will pray for them until they are in heaven. Finally, please know that the best part of your day is to give it to God by loving and worshiping God and praying for one another at Holy Mass. Please make every effort to attend daily Mass at All Saints or another Catholic church. Please trust me that your soul will be restless until it rests in God, whether you are old or young, healthy or sick, rich or poor. See you at Holy Mass to pray for our sinfulness and to give thanks and praise to God, Fr. Hien HOMEBOUND: Holy Communion can be brought from All Saints to a devoted Catholic who is homebound or in a nursing home. Please contact the church office if you need this special ministry. Happy All Saints’ Feast Day everyone. May all the saints in heaven pray for us and our families until we are all in heaven with them for eternal life. God is good and He has blessed us with all the saints in heaven to pray for us, and for us to imitate their love for God and their faith in God. Unless we live today like them, we will not make it to heaven. Yes, we are given life so that we may be smart enough to love heaven by loving God and one another today. Anyone who lives to love our Lord and to serve Him by leading souls to heaven will be saved. You and I might be very surprised to see countless Catholics, including ourselves, who might not make it to heaven and at the same time we will see countless non-Catholics who will make it to heaven. These people might not have known Christ and his teachings on earth but they lived with their conscience, justly and fairly, showing great care, and sacrificed much for others. God will show greater mercy to them for they didn't know much about our Catholic faith, but they lived out the best version of themselves that was given to them by God. No matter who we are, we all must live every moment of our lives with God and for God and a desire for heaven. The devils have a lot of games and toys for people to love them instead of God and heaven. The devils love people who choose to like them and are faithless in God, loveless for God and for others, etc. Every day, I pray that myself, my loved ones, and all of my parishioners would live to love God and to help each other to eternal life. I know that if we live to love much, we will be with the one who has loved us eternally, that’s our God. See you at Holy Mass to pray for our sinfulness and to give thanks and praise to God, Fr. Hien ALL SAINTS DAY: Tuesday, November 1st is a holyday of obligation (all Catholics are required to attend Mass on this day, unless they are seriously ill). Masses are at 12noon and 5pm in English, and 6:30pm in Vietnamese. All Souls Day: Viet & English Mass at 6:30pm, optional Mass. MONTH OF NOVEMBER: We will pray for all souls at every Mass. All Mass intentions will be for all souls, and your Mass stipends will benefit our parish ‘Building Fund.” Please take an envelope (in your pew) and write all the deceased names of those among your family and friends so that they will be prayed for at every Mass in November (these names will be placed in front of the altar all month). We love them and we will pray for them until they are in heaven. My Dear Parishioners,
To you who are reading this message, I am attending a Vietnamese priest conference in Garland/Dallas. The name of this conference is called “Emmaus 9.” It is operated by the Federation of Vietnamese Catholics in the United States. As I have shared with you before, there are about 1,000 Vietnamese priests like myself who are serving in parishes in the United States with about 600 Vietnamese sisters. Religious vocations among the Vietnamese people are very strong in Vietnam and throughout the world, including here in the United States, although most people in Vietnam are non-Catholic, with only about 8 percent Catholic. Our Wichita diocese for example has ordained five priests: Fr. Hung Pham, Fr. Binh Quoc, Fr. Cuong Scott Nguyen, Fr. Hien Nguyen and Fr. Ben Nhat Nguyen. As many as that number of men from Wichita have joined religious orders such as the Dominicans priests. There have been many young ladies from Wichita who have joined religious orders throughout the United States also. There will be hundreds of priests attending this conference in Dallas, held once every three years for further education and priestly fraternity. This is my third time attending this conference and I found that it has been fruitful to my ministry. The first conference I attended was in Atlanta, Georgia in 2016. The second conference was held in San Jose, California in 2019, with the nuncio of the United States as one of the main speakers. Some of the speakers this year in Garland are Bishop Greg Kelly, Bishop Michael Olson, Bishop Kevin Vann, Bishop Thanh Nguyen, etc. Please know that you will be in my heart and prayer every day at Holy Mass and during my prayer times. Please don’t forget to pray daily and always make Sunday the Lord’s Day to receive God’s blessing and grace and love in you and for your family. See you at Holy Mass, Fr. Hien ALL SAINTS DAY: Tuesday, November 1st is a holyday of obligation (all Catholics are required to attend Mass on this day, unless they are seriously ill). Thanks be to God who blessed us with our lives and each other. Last Saturday on October 8th, Our Lord and Blessed Mother blessed us with so much fun and holiness through the Holy Eucharist, the procession and especially the dances our children performed to our Blessed Mother Mary. Yes, miraculously the weather was very nice the entire day. Throughout the day, I walked around and visited with so many people, and many people came from outside of Wichita. Seeing their faith and joy, especially in the little children with all the fun they had, I was so happy and thanked God for each other and the many many people who helped us with this big event. Thank you to our All Saints Catholic school team, Knights of Columbus, Altar Society and countless people, parishioners as well as non-parishioners, who helped tirelessly on Friday and Saturday. Many of them didn’t leave until 1:00 in the morning. Of course, many people also came and helped clean up and put things away on Sunday afternoon. Your love for All Saints and your dedication were amazing. I hope that in the future, we will have more hands and hearts to volunteer for this event. It sounds like everyone wants to hold this event annually because of the blessings we have received from our Bishop, priests, sisters and the many people who attended. God willing, we will do it again next fall. Again, thank you everyone for your prayers, love, and dedication to our parish and for the good of so many people. I was also surprised that so many people from other nationalities attended. Yes, we are all God’s children, Catholic or not, parishioner or not, for we are all one as God’s family, Fr. Hien PS: There will be no daily mass this week in our parish as well as throughout the diocese due to the clergy conference. My Dear People of God,
Please come to worship and to celebrate with us this Saturday, October 8 at 4pm for Holy Mass (English & Vietnamese) to be celebrated by Bishop Kemme with two professional Vietnamese singers in the choir. The Wichita KofC honor guard will attend also. After Mass, we will hold a special Eucharistic procession outside to honor Our Lord in this special year of the Eucharist. We will also have the statue of Mary in the procession as we will give our devotion to our Blessed Mother. During the procession, we will recite the rosary in English and Vietnamese along with Vietnamese songs. After the procession, a short period of adoration will be held in front of the bell tower, followed by a free dinner for everyone--provided by our Knights of Columbus, Altar Society and Vietnamese people. We are expecting over a thousand people for the Mass, procession, dinner, and outdoor music concert. There will be a security presence as well as many people having food sales inside and outside all day. All Saints PTO and School Councils will provide free bounce houses and games from 10am-2:30pm—all children and families are invited. Plus, there will many food and fun vendors indoor and outdoor from 10am-3pm, including outdoor Karaoke. Please bring your own lawn chair to sit for during the day and for the dinner and the music concert in the evening. Looks like the weather for the day will be very nice as we will be together to celebrate our Catholic faith and to enjoy companionship and great food with lots of fun for all people. Our All Saints’ school children will sing and also perform two group dances: one by the Vietnamese children and the other by the Hispanic children on the outdoor stage by the bell tower. Our children love to give their devotion to Mother Mary. Please join us for all or part of this special day’s events. Your presence will mean a lot to all of us at All Saints for we are a welcoming and hospitable church family. The expenses for this special event are provided by generous donors and the Vietnamese food sales. If you wish to donate, please memo your donation as "Marian Day." God is good to all of us so let us celebrate our faith and enjoy good food in the company of a thousand people. Everyone is welcome, Catholic or not, parishioner or not, for we are all one as God’s family, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners of All Saints,

Are you ready for October? October is a special month for us Catholics as we give greater love and devotion to our Mother Mary. Thank you to our faithful parishioners who have been leading the rosary before every Mass, weekdays and weekends too. The reason we pray the rosary before Mass is to give our devotion to Mother Mary and to ask her intercession for us and our families. Of course, we also need her help so that we too may worship God and her Son, Jesus, with all our heart, mind, and soul. Yes, we all can benefit from the love and prayers of all the angels, saints, and Mother Mary. Please keep praying the rosary daily, especially those of you who are retired, for the conversion of us sinners and for the salvation of all souls. Pray a rosary also for the end of war and abortion that have killed millions of innocent people, born and yet to be born. Saturday, October 1st, is the feast day of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, or St. Thérèse of Lisieux. She was known for her life of holiness, doing all things with love and childlike trust in God. Not only that, but she also poured out her heart to love all people, especially the poor and those who didn’t care for her. We are blessed to have a marble statue of her for our church and school. Thank you to an anonymous parishioner for the statue. I am working to pave an area outside to place her so that anyone can come and pray to her. Church flooring: Thank God for the new flooring of our church. It really dresses up our church and modernizes it. At this point we are pretty much done with the church. The reasons it took so long was the areas along the wall were hard to do; we replaced some of the old vinyl molding; we screwed down all the pews; and we painted under the steps around the altar area. Thank you to all those who volunteered for all this detail work. FYI: https://floorstoyourhome.com/ is where we purchased our Shaw, luxury vinyl plank, loose lay, for our church. Also, we have been pressure washing the outside of our church since it has not been cleaned for years. I am glad to be here to serve our Lord and church with you all, Fr. Hien |
